Oh what do I say, I need to search
I’ve stopped thinking on my own
It’s a pandemic of a different kind
An internet dependence full-blown!

The symptoms are clearly visible
For all and sundry to see
But they too have blinders on
Oh goodness gracious me!

My friend keeps posting pictures
Of her holiday in France
Her poodles drawing doodles
Her parrot doing a dance

Keeping up with the Joneses
Has got my tummy in a knot
I’ve forgotten how to tell real from fake
My brain’s begun to rot!

Though it’s got its advantages
who can ever argue that!
A spy in the sky that’s serving you
information rat-a-tat

Who sang that song, you love so much
What goes into your favourite pie
All the information needed to live
If that’s taken away, will you die?

It’s quite a tool, if used that way
But don’t get addicted yet
Take your nose off from that screen
Or the real world you’ll forget!
