You must have seen him scamper about
His tail a copy-pasted ‘C’
His tummy may be howling with hunger
but he still runs after you with glee

You see that little rascal
Is looking for a friend so kind
He is ready with his wet little nose
And a wagetty-wag behind!

He comes in many colours
His eyes quite perfectly round
Try throwing him a biscuit or two
And watch him follow you around

He has no home to call his own
Just a little corner in a street
For food, he has to scavenge all day
Usually, it’s search, sleep hungry, repeat!

When he gets sick, no one takes care
He tries to hide away
But mean specimens of humankind
kick him and call him a stray

He’ll be the most faithful friend
If you ever give him a chance
Your sorrows you’ll find diminishing
And you’ll see your joys enhance!
